Introduction
The “White Ribbon UA” mobile application is built exclusively for the requirements of victims of domestic violence and combines all organizations in the country, making the process of getting assistance and information faster and easier. White Ribbon UA is available at no cost on both Android and iOS smartphones. The app is offered in both English and Bulgarian. Not only does it provide helpful information for victims of domestic violence, but also for their friends and acquaintances.
Problem
White Ribbon UA is the first mobile application to prevent domestic violence against women and children in Eastern Europe. According to international organization statistics, every third Bulgarian woman is a victim of domestic violence. It is 1,000,000 Bulgarians. 70% of women in eight Eastern European nations had been victims of violence since the age of 15, with 1 in 4 experiencing physical and sexual abuse at the hands of their partner.
Three out of five women report experiencing psychological pressure. More than fifty percent of women who are murdered nowadays are murdered by intimate partners or family members. The abuser believes violence to be acceptable, justifiable, and his right. Children are frequently both witnesses and victims of domestic violence. Suffer from regressive behavior, anxiety, depression, and violence as a result of trauma.
White Ribbon’s desire for a stealth mode that enables the user to alert authorities without the abuser’s knowledge was a crucial concern. I accepted the challenge and created a design solution that simplified the whole experience for simple usability. I also built a design framework that includes the style guide, UI components, and development rules for a streamlined and lean workflow.
